Severe rainstorm hits suburbs of Kumasi.

A severe rainstorm which hit Accra town and Oforikrom, both suburbs of Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, has disrupted electric power supply and telephone links in the area. During the storm, an entire unused shed belonging to Poku Transport and Sawmill Limited was blown off and in the process destroyed six electric and three telephone poles. According to Mr. Gabriel Kwadwo Dwomoh, a district assembly contestant for the Oforikrom electoral area, officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have been contacted to restore power to the people. An appeal has been made to the Kumasi Metropolitan Disaster Management Organisation to assist in rehabilitating workshops destroyed in the storm.
