Nkoranza (B/A), June 3, GNA – A severe rainstorm has hit Dwenewoho and Domeabra, both farming communities in the Nkoranza North District rendering more than 400 people homeless and destroying properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis. Mr Opoku Darko Munufie, Zonal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization in-charge of Bono Manso Zone, told the Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that, more than four buildings were affected at Dwenewoho. He said the three classroom block of the local District Assembly primary school at Dwenewoho, was among the affected buildings adding that, the roofs were completely destroyed. Mr Munufie said about 150 of the disaster victims were currently perching with friends and relatives. Mr John Wanzy Tia, Head Teacher of the Dwenewoho Primary School, said more than 40 pupils of the primary one, had to forgo classes because their classroom was badly damaged. At Domeabra, Mr Charles Baafour Amisare, Assemblyman for Pinihe-Domeabra-Tankor Electoral Area said, about six buildings were affected displacing 250 people. Community leaders of the two affected areas have appealed to the District Assembly to rehabilitate the school block. They also called on NADMO to support the victims with relief items.
