Several stores destroyed in Cape Coast fire

Fire, early Tuesday morning, swept through a cluster of stores at Apewosika behind the University of Cape Coast in the Central region.

It destroyed properties running into thousands of Ghana cedis.

Joy News correspondent Richard Kwadwo Nyarko who was at the scene reported seeing “a very thick smoke from the cluster of stalls” behind the Atlantic Hall of the university.

He said there was total darkness in the area due to power cuts but residents kept vigil as firemen struggled to douse the fire.

Leader of the Fire Service team, PO3 Stephen Baidoo could not immediately tell the cause of the fire but said investigations will soon be conducted to establish that.
