Seventeen dies in accident

Cape Coast, March 17, GNA- Seventeen people were killed on the spot and ten others received various degrees of injury when a 207 passenger bus and a Ford City Express bus were involved in an accident at Gomoa Assin on the Mankessim-Apam road on Friday.

The injured are on admission at the Apam Catholic Hospital. ASP. Asare Baffour, Apam District Police Commander told the GNA in a telephone interview that the vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, killing the 17 passengers, including the driver of the 207 bus, whose name was not immediately known. The bodies have been deposited at the Winneba Government hospital for autopsy.

The police are continuing with their investigations. 17 March 06
