Seven Sonitra employees granted bail

Juaso (Ash), April 23, GNA – A Circuit Court at Juaso on Thursday granted 20 million cedis bail each to seven workers of Sonitra Ghana Limited charged with stealing three packets of 50×560 magnum explosives belonging to their employers.

Stephen Kwaku Asare, Kofi Takyi, Nii Okaine Tagoe, Mohammed Osmdam, Prosper Kpornu, Vincent Atiekutse and Isaac Hackman pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on April 26, 2004.

Prosecuting, Inspector J.M. Adams told the court presided over by Mr Jacob Boon that on April 1, 2004, the Company’s supervisor of explosives gave a quantity of explosives to the suspects for breaking rocks at Yawkwei near Juaso.

Inspector Adams said the supervisor later detected that three packets of the explosives were missing and he reported the matter to the police at Konongo.
