A Cape Coast High Court Two has remanded a driver who paraded himself as the Tufuhen of Tweikrom in the Ajumako Traditional Area and seven others in prison custody for conspiring to cause harm, threat of death and destroying properties.
Kwesi Apayni, self-styled Tufuhen- Kobina Takyi, farmer; Kweku Atta, farmer; Richard Bosompim, unemployed, Polina Wood, Ekua Tabuah and two sons of Kobina Takyi pleaded not guilty and are to reappear on March 13, 2013.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Anku told the court presided over by Justice Mrs Florence F. Otoo that whiles preparations were been made toward the celebration of their Akwanbo festival the accused persons led by Apayni deliberately mounted a barrier on the main road to the town.
Chief Inspector Anku said they assaulted people coming to the town to celebrate the festival mostly family members of Nana Afrasi Brempong VII Odikro of the town, destroyed properties, the stool house of the Odikro and his palace.
They also threatened to kill the Odikro whenever they see him in the town, the prosecutor said.
The matter was reported to the police at Ajumako and later referred to the Cape Coast High Court.
The accused persons were apprehended and after investigations they were put before the court.
