Dome (E/R), Sept. 10, GNA – The Hunger Project, Ghana, is working in partnership with seven communities in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District in the Eastern Region, towards the end of hunger and poverty. The beneficiary communities are Achiansa, Abobri, Minimade, Kuano, Osu Wem and Dome.
Nana Appiah Bediako, Mankrado of Dome told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dome that the project involves the construction of a building complex which would house a clinic, nurses’ block, bank, food bank, library, conference hall and a five-seater KVIP.
Odikro Baffour Agyeman of Dome said the Hunger Project, Ghana had already supplied the communities with 10 bags of maize out of the 30 bags promised and had kept them in the food store.
He stated that the agreement the communities and the NGO had included the cultivation of community maize farms, as a means to generate additional funds into the impending establishment of a rural bank. Mr Stephen Appiah, Trainer of Trainers of Hunger Project, said a course had been organised for the project committee members who were taken through other intervention and reform projects, including adult literacy, crop improvement, HIV/AIDS education, child nutrition, women empowerment and Micro Credit Scheme. 10 Sept. 08
