Seven benefit from scholarship scheme

Accra, Sept. 28, GNA – The Emmanuel Presbyterian Church at Dansoman, on Sunday awarded scholarships to seven Junior High School graduates, under its Annual Scholarship Awards Scheme, at a ceremony in Accra. This is to enable the beneficiaries, five boys and two girls, to further their studies at the Senior High School level, from the 2008/2009 academic year.

It brings to 59 the number of scholarships awarded to children of the Church, since the scheme was instituted in September 2001. Mrs Gifty Affenyi-Dadzie, Member of the Council of State, advised the awardees to rely solely on God, for wisdom and understanding throughout their education.

She urged them to take their studies seriously in order to justify the award given to them by the Church. Mr K. O. Adu Labi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Scheme, explained that it was set up to assist brilliant but needy children to study hard to attain high academic laurels. 28 Sept. 08
