Service Providers begin workshop in Bolgatanga.

Bolgatanga, June 3, GNA – A one-week workshop on quality assurance, negotiation and contracting for health service providers in the Bolgatanga Municipality began on Thursday in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

It is being organized by Health Reform Plus (HRP), a non-governmental organization (NGO) in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly to equip more than 100 doctors, nurses, pharmacists and allied personnel with the requisite knowledge for the implementation of the Mutual Health Scheme in the area.

Opening the workshop, the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Rockson Ayine Bukari said the implementation of the scheme is a policy shift from the old “Cash and Carry System” to a more progressive one because the existing scheme makes it difficult for the majority of the people to access quality health care.

He, therefore, indicated that the success of the scheme depends to a large extent on the co-operation and active involvement of doctors, pharmacists, nurses and paramedical staff. Mr. Bukari said the expectations of beneficiaries are quite high in terms of the delivery of quality health care.

The Municipal Chief Executive thus urged participants to go beyond their normal duties and sacrifice a little to offer quality services.
