Service personnel undergo orientation

Mr. Isaac Kwasi Kyeremeh, Dormaa-East District Chief Executive, has addressed an orientation workshop for 50 new national service personnel posted to the district and urged them to give off their best.

He urged them to work hard to ensure the rapid development of the new district.

Mr. Joseph Kobina Ayensu, the Deputy District Director of Education, called for a non-partisan education system since “the current coaster roller system” had no future for the country.

While reiterating the need for quality education to be accessible and affordable to all, Mr. Kyeremeh appealed to the personnel posted to the sector to help improve the standard of education in the district.

He said promoting quality education was a shared responsibility of all stakeholders and cautioned the personnel, especially the male teachers, to help the girls to complete school and not to engage in amorous relationships with them.

Mr. Emmanuel Osei Adade, District Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, who spoke on the role that the personnel could play in the agricultural sector, said Ghana’s agriculture was dominated by small scale producers with average farm size of about 1.2 hectares with low use of improved technology.

He said small farming accounted for about 80 percent of the domestic production characterized by the low crop and animal production, noting that the agricultural sector produced 60 percent of the national food production, creating a deficit especially in the meat and fish sectors.
