Senya Beraku Youth appeal for solution of chieftaincy dispute

Senya Beraku C/R), Oct. 13, GNA – The Concerned Youth of Senya Beraku has appealed to the Central and National Houses of Chiefs to find a lasting solution to the protracted chieftaincy dispute in the town. The group said the 20-year dispute was affecting the development of the town as well as the economic activities of the people.

Addressing a press conference after a peaceful demonstration by the youth to register their unhappiness at the state of affairs the spokesman for the group, Mr Ateitu Okine, said the “dispute involving the two gates is hampering the development of the area”.

Mr Okine said the Senya Beraku Senior High, which was established 20 years ago, lacked boarding facilities, adequate classrooms and other structures for academic excellence due to the dispute. He appealed to the government to implement the programme of the past regime of constructing a landing beach at Senya Beraku to ensure safe landing by fishermen.

Mr Okine also appealed to the government to upgrade the health centre, adding that nursing mothers and pregnant women traveled to either Kasoa or Winneba to attend hospital. He said there are only five policemen at the Senya Beraku Police Station and called for increase in the number and rehabilitation of their residential accommodation.
