He said many people were unable to access quality health care while some senior citizens become anxious over their health. These were contained a speech read on his behalf at a Luncheon for Senior Citizens at Sekondi on Friday.

President Kufuor said the management of pensions would be simplified, while all regional capitals would be equipped with modern equipments by September this year to facilitate the quick processing of pensioners documents.

Mr. Peter Y. Viala Western Regional Chairman of the Ghana Government Pensioners Association said the long queues in most banks were having a negative effect on the pensioners.

He said that many pensioners have collapsed and died in some banking halls due to long delays, overcrowding, heat and exhaustion. Mr. Viala therefore, appealed to the management of the various banks to create special desks for pensioners, while efforts should be made to reduce the heat and other uncomfortable situations that they endured.
