SEND Foundation organizes Review Meeting on HIPC Watch Project

Tamale, July 1, GNA- Three regions from the southern sector on Wednesday joined the District HIPC Monitoring Committee (DHMC) Quarterly Regional Review Meeting in the Northern sector.

The meeting was to enable the committee to study and learn at first hand the monitoring process of the Ghana HIPC Watch currently taken place in all the three Northern regions in Tamale.

The regions are the Central, Brong Ahafo and Ashanti and are expected to share the experiences with the Northern sector to acquire new skills in dealing with HIPC Watch monitoring process.

The Social Enterprise Development Foundation (SEND) of West Africa is organizing the three-day review meeting, which also sought to find out problems that affect the monitoring activities.

Sixty participants from 25 districts of the three northern regions including Keta Krachi in the Volta region are attending the meeting. Mr Siapha Kamara, Chief Executive Officer of SEND in a welcoming address, called for more commitment and collaboration in dealing with HIPC Watch activities to yield good results.

He said good governance, accountability and equity were the major indicators of the HIPC Watch monitoring committee and that every thing possible would be done to ensure that they achieve the goals and objectives.

Mr Kuupiel Cuthbert Baba, Advocacy Programmes Officer of SEND appealed to members to package information well so that the public and the government would know everything about the HIPC Watch.
