Sekyere West Assembly fails to elect presiding member

Mampong (Ash), Sept 15, GNA- The Sekyere West District Assembly on Tuesday failed to elect a Presiding Member, to replace Nana Kofi Asante whose tenure of office has ended. Mr R.K. Appiah-Kubi, a 44-year-old Technician, who was the sole contestant, attracted 25 votes from the 60-member Assembly, thus failing to clench the two-thirds mandatory endorsement. When the Electoral Commission organised a second ballot, the candidate polled only 24 votes. The next polls, is scheduled for the next meeting of the Assembly.
