Sekyere South completes street naming project

Mr Edward Kusi Ayarkwa, Sekyere South District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Ashanti Region, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for his vision for the street naming and property numbering project.

Mr Ayarkwa also expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people as well as the staff of the assembly for their commitment and support given him towards the completion of the project.

Mr Ayarkwa made this known to Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Agona at the weekend.

President Mahama directed all metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to name all streets and number all properties in 18 months.

He said, the names chosen for the streets were suggested by the chiefs, market women and other stakeholders.

Mr Ayarkwa said the project is generating revenue for the assembly and making it easier for people to locate business centres and households.

Mr Adams Iddisah, DCE for Kwabre East also told GNA that the exercise has helped the assembly to locate many business centres, which were hidden within Mamponteng, the district capital and other areas.

He said the assembly is sensitising the people on how to use the project to locate or identify places and properties.

Mr Iddisah noted that the exercise would benefit the district socially, economically and improve on security.

Mr Kaakyeri Oppong Kyekyeku, DCE for Afigya Kwabre said the exercise would increase internal generated funds to complement government subventions meant for development.
