Sekyere Central District Assembly getting hot

Eighty-eight people have been slated to contest the District Assembly elections in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region.

The contestants are 81 males and seven females for the 27 electoral areas of the District.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Mr Raymond Nartey, District Electoral Officer, said out of the 88 candidates, it is only in the Asokwa Electoral area of Nsuta, that a female, is going unopposed.

He said 164 males and 24 females are contesting the unit committee elections.

Some candidates in an interview with the GNA said their reasons for opting to become Assembly members include their willingness to rekindle the communal spirit in the people, ensure proper waste and environmental health management as well as initiate development projects in their electoral areas.
