Sekondi-Takoradi MCE under attacks for using private outrider

The residents in the Sekondi – Takoradi metropolis have been agitating against the Metropolitan Chief Executive’s (MCE) decision to use private outrider in his daily activities.

The assembly have been accused of using its limited funds to purchase a motorbike with fixed siren to aid the MCE Anthony Sam in his movements across the metropolis.

Meanwhile the Public Relations officer of the assembly, Mr. John Latse defended his boss indicating that MCEs in Accra and Kumasi are using the same private outriders and that he did not see anything wrong if the Sekondi-Takoradi MCE also decides to do same.

He also rubbished rumours that the Assembly used its resources to purchase the motor for the MCE, stating that the fund was made available through a donation from a philanthropist.

Meanwhile, speaking to Accra based Kyzz FM, the head of Research of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service; DSP Kweku Obeng said it is against the law for the assembly and the MCE to use the private outriders.

According to him, he would report the conduct of the assembly and the MCE to his appropriate bosses for a decision to be taken on the issue.
