Sekondi Police identifies murdered taxi driver

The Sekondi Police has identified a taxi driver who was gruesomely murdered at Anlokrom, near Mpohor, as Emmanuel Okai, 35.

A Police source told the Ghana News Agency, on Thursday, that the victim was found dead lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut in the right side of his chest in addition to multiple injuries on the body.

The corpse has been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for autopsy.

The police said the corpse was found in the middle of road lying face down with his jeans trouser and blue and white Lacoste “T’ shirt, badly torn, which indicated that there was a struggle between him and his assailants.

Again, it said the body of the deceased was tied on the left ankle with a seatbelt with traces of blood on the road leading to a nearby bush.

The police found a National Health Insurance card, an Ecobank debit card, and driver’s license in the pocket of the trousers, which bore the name of the victim.

A locally-manufactured revolver gun was retrieved by the police at the scene of the murder.

So far, no arrest had been made, but police investigations continue.
