Sekondi Methodist organises Carols Night

Lieutenant General David B. Quayson, Chaplain of the Western Naval Command, has advised students to take their studies seriously and face the future with confidence.

He said it was only through faith that Mary became the mother of Jesus Christ who later came to die to save the entire world from eternal damnation.

Reverend Quayson said this in a Christmas message at the carols night ceremony of the Sekondi Methodist Senior High School to commemorate the birth of Christ.

As part of the ceremony, an Epic Theatre was displayed in various languages in adoration of the birth of the Messiah after the Festival of Nine Lessons was observed.

Preaching on the theme: “Blessed is the Fruit of the Womb,” Rev. Quayson said Mary was not just an ordinary woman but a special one in the midst of women at the time.

“It is in the light of this that God chose her to conceive and deliver the saviour of mankind,” he said, and advised the students, especially the females, to walk with God and be blameless to attract his blessings.

Rev. Quayson said Mary did not doubt the message but believed it strongly, hence, her ability to be used by God for the birth of that miraculous child.

He reminded them that Christmas is an occasion of joy and hope for the world and appealed to them to exhibit humility in all their endevours as Christ did.

In a goodwill message, Mr Paul Kwaku Awortwi, Headmaster of the school, appealed to students, especially those in final year, to prepare adequately for the final examinations for a secured future.

He lauded the students for their high sense of discipline and appealed to parents to honour their financial obligations for the smooth running of the school.

Pastor Francis Billy Acquah, PTA Chairman, advised Christians to celebrate the Christmas in moderation as the Three Wise Men did.
