Sefwi: Angry residents threaten to burn ballot boxes

Residents and drivers of Sefwi Bekwai in the Western Region have emphasised that they are not going to vote in the upcoming election on November 7, 2016, since there seems to be no development in their town.

They have threatened to burn all ballot boxes dispatched to the area during the polls.

The angry residents highlighted that the leaders of this country have failed on all promises made to the during campaign seasons, leaving them to their plights after the elections.

The drivers also indicated that due to the poor nature of their roads, a lot of accidents have happened, claiming innocent lives.

They also stressed that the bad road is destroying their engines as well as their cars and they have been spending a lot repairing their cars with the little money they earn.

The drivers again elaborated that they have been forced to increase transport fares in the area to offset their high expenditure, which does not auger well for passengers.

One driver, who spoke on behalf of the rest, cautioned, “And for that matter, we the drivers and the residents have made an agreement that, we don’t want to see any ballot box in area for the upcoming election else we will burn it unless, our road has been constructed.”
