Seek Truth And Not Justice – Ali Mazrui

An eminent African historian, Professor Ali Mazrui has called on Ghanaians to seek truth rather than justice in the ongoing reconciliation process.

According to Professor Mazrui seeking out perpetrators of atrocities committed in the past, will prevent people from coming out openly to tell the truth in order to set the historical facts straight.

Professor Ali Mazrui who himself worked with the Kenyan truth and reconciliation commission was commenting on Ghana?s reconciliation exercise.

He said the Ghanaian situation is quite complicated since it is dealing with many regimes unlike in Kenya where they only dealt with one political party – the KANU Party.

Professor Mazrui urged Ghanaians to learn from the experience of other African states that have gone through the truth and reconciliation process.
