Seek holistic development, Christians entreated

The Reverend Felix Tawia Danquah, Minister in-charge of the Ayigya Bethel Society of the Methodist Church Ghana, has implored church leaders to institute proactive measures for the development of their members.

Christianity, he said, does not seek only the spiritual welfare of the followers but deals with all the other aspects of their physical lives.

He said issues such as job creation, educational, health and infrastructural development and reaching out to the underprivileged, the needy and poor in the society, should always engage the attention of the church to advance the general well-being of the people.

Reverend Danquah was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, after members of the church had undertaken a four-hour health walk.

The walk formed part of activities marking the Golden Jubilee of the church and the anniversary is being commemorated on the theme: “Harnessing Our Gifts for Ministry.”

The Minister urged the members to make physical exercises feature prominently in their daily lives as this was the only way to prolong their lifespan.

Mr Solomon Panford, a member of the Anniversary Planning Committee, said the church would be using the occasion to take stock of their activities over the years.

This is to help them to strategize effectively for the future to enhance the growth of the church.

Mr Panford enumerated various development projects being undertaken by the church adding that the church had also instituted scholarship schemes to support brilliant-but-needy students and pupils.
