Security officer charged with attempted fraud

Sunyani (B/A), July 17, GNA- A circuit court at Fiapre, near Sunyani on Wednesday remanded a 35-year-old security officer into prison custody for attempting to defraud Mr. Ignatius Baafour Awuah, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive.

Kwame Opoku Baidoo pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on July 20.

Police Inspector Nana Collings Kwasi Fosu told the court that the accused worked with ESSIAD Security Service in Accra. He said on June 22, this year, when the MCE returned from a trek he met the accused at his office wanting to see him.

The accused, in the presence of a witness introduced himself as a policeman from the police striking force in Accra and had come to report that the MCE’s brother, a colleague at the unit, had misplaced a mobile phone belonging to the MCE. The prosecutor said Mr. Baffour-Awuah became suspicious after listening to the story of the accused and called in the police who arrested him
