Security man jailed two years for theft

A security man working with the Bosome-Freho District Education Office, has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment by the Juaso Circuit Court over theft.

Kwame Akaweri pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.

Police Chief Inspector Denis Nana Duku, told the court presided over by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh that the convict who was on night duty on November 13, had the key to the store room in his possession.

He is said to have unlocked the room and on entering stole 84 pieces of textbooks, eight syllabuses, three graph books together with five pieces of girls’ school uniform and three boys’ uniform.

Akaweri also took nine pairs of school sandals, five school bags and one attendance register, the court was told.

Chief Inspector Duku said the convict packed these into sacks and bolted but a witness in the case who spotted him alerted the storekeeper.

He was traced to the Bomfa Junction on the Accra- Kumasi Highway, arrested and handed over to the police.
