Security man jailed for stealing

Asamankese (E/R), Sept. 24, GNA – A security guard who stole a quantity of palm oil belonging to the Ghana Oil Palm Development Company (GPODC) at Kwae while on duty has been sentenced to three months imprisonment in hard labour and fined two million cedis by a Circuit Court at Asamankese.

Alfred Anuff Quartey will serve additional nine months imprisonment in hard labour if he fails to pay the fine.

Police Inspector P.K. Baah said colleague guards arrested Quartey when he stole the palm oil worth 500,000 cedis.

The judge, Mr S.S Appiah, condemned the behaviour of the guard and said it constituted a breach of trust because he was entrusted with the task of protecting property.
