Security man and two others fined six million cedis for stealing

Cape Coast, Oct 05, GNA – A security man and two others were on Tuesday fined a total of six million cedis by circuit court at Cape Coast for stealing three bags of cement belonging to one Mr Godfrey Aubyn.

Kobina Awer, security man, Kwesi Abban driver’s mate pleaded guilty to conspiracy and stealing while Joseph Ewusi, a driver, pleaded guilty to dishonestly receiving and were fined two million cedis each or in default 12 months imprisonment.

The court also bonded them to be of good behaviour for one year or in default one-month imprisonment each. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court that the complainant, a building contractor, engaged Awer as a security man at his building site at Twuim a suburb of Moree. On October 02, Awer conspired with Abban and stole three bags of cement and sold them to Ewusi.

At the same court, James Allouh a 47-year-old driver was granted 40 million cedis bail with a surety for careless driving and negligently causing harm to a six-year-old boy. He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on October 24. Chief Inspector Oheneba Amoako-Boateng told the court that on August 18 knocked down the boy who sustained injuries.
