Security forces to investigate alleged killing of Ghanaian

Aflao (V/R), April 30, GNA – The Ghanaian security services at the Ghana/Togo border at Aflao said investigation into the alleged killing of a Ghanaian by the Togolese security forces during last week’s post election violence in Lome, Togo, was going on.

“We are currently treating the information as rumour but we are investigating to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the reports,” a source close to the security forces at the border told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Aflao on Friday.

The source noted that in a time like this people commonly traded in unverifiable information, but added that the security would dig deep into the matter “to get the truth or the lie.”

“The Togolese security are willing to help establish the truth about the reports,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the security dismissed another rumour that a Togolese soldier last Thursday shot across the frontier injuring a Ghanaian fisherman at Aflao.

The authorities at the Aflao District Hospital where the alleged injured fisherman was said to have been rushed to also denied receiving any such patient.
