Security agencies commended for ensuring peaceful election

Kumasi, Dec. 24, GNA – The Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Muslim Students Association has commended the security agencies for ensuring peace and order during and after the election. It also praised the Electoral Commission (EC) for ensuring total fairness in the election.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Anyars Yussif, the Regional Secretary of the association and released to the press in Kumasi on Thursday.

The statement also commended the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) and the media for the needed education and coverage on the election.

“Indeed, election 2004 has demonstrated to the whole world that Ghana’s democracy has come of age”, it said.

The statement, which commended all Ghanaians for ensuring free, fair and peaceful election, said the election was conducted peacefully due to the political maturity exhibited by the contesting political parties.

The statement called on all Ghanaians to contribute their quota in every way they could to help maintain the peace and build a better Ghana.
