Second quadrennial conference of CWU opens Today

The second quadrennial delegates’ conference of the Communications Workers Union (CWU) opens at Sunyani today, April 18. The three-day conference, which will be attended by more than 100 delegates, is under the theme: “Organising Communications Workers in the 21st Century, a Challenge under globalisation”.

A statement issued by the Union in Accra on Sunday said Mr John Mahama, Minister of Communications, will deliver the keynote address to formally open the conference.

The speakers will include Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni, Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, and Mr Christian Appiah Agyei, Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).

Delegates are expected to discuss constitutional issues and review the past four years to project into the future. They will also elect the core leadership of the Union for the next quadrennial conference, the statement said.
