Second best farmer establishing farming training institute

Domeabra (Ash), May 21, GNA- Nana Kwaku Siaw, the second national best farmer for 2004, on Saturday announced he was establishing a farming training institute, at Domeabra near Kumasi to train the youth in modern agricultural techniques.

He told the GNA that construction work on the first phase of the project comprising a hostel and classrooms was progressing steadily. Nana Siaw, who is also the Nkosuohene of Anwomaso, said the project would be completed by July for the commencement of the programme in August this year.

He said the institute if completed would train students in poultry, livestock rearing, aquaculture, crop farming and bee keeping techniques

Nana Siaw said the programme would focus on women adding “Women unlike their male counterparts are zealous to add value to their farm produce and market them instead of passing on such activities to middlemen”.

He, therefore, urged government to assist women financially to enable them to increase productivity.
