SDA Hospital at Kwadaso records 353 HIV/AIDS cases last year

Kumasi, Jan 29, GNA- The Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church Hospital at Kwadaso in Kumasi recorded 353 HIV/AIDS cases last year, Pastor Emmanuel Kusi Yeboah, Director of Health Ministry of the Church, said on Tuesday.

Launching the Central Ghana Conference of the SDA Ghana AIDS Response Fund (GARFUND) in Kumasi, Pastor Yeboah said the figure represented confirmed cases out of 760 people who were tested. He expressed regret that in spite of the numerous campaigns being waged on the disease there had not been a change in the sexual behaviour of the youth.

”It is rather strange that the very youth who seem to know more about the disease are the very people who are mostly infected.” Pastor Yeboah stressed the need for continuous sensitisation of the youth for them to change their attitude towards sex to reduce the rate of infection.
