The Screen Nation Digital-Is Media Awards 2013 went all peacefully, smoothly and well organised as every event is supposed to be. Kudos to the event management team. Tuesday the 17th of December 2013 will definitely be booked in the history of the newly built Google Headquarters in London, as the day that black creativity was digitally celebrated.
This event is the first of its kind within the UK black creative Community (digitally). And it seeks to target and celebrate all those striving to make it big in their own little way to the top of the creative industry. The award is to the toast and celebration of the best online content produced by black British and International digital media creativity across short films, web-series, music promos, blogs, magazines and other social networking fields.
The Screen Nation Digital- Is Media Awards therefore goes all out to give Hope, Life, Encouragement, Desire and a creative career for the black community who are to some extent struggling to make it into the creative industry in the UK.
Industry moguls from as far as Nigeria, came to grace the occasion with their colourful expertise given their recognised credentials, which was a sight to behold. Most of the creative and enterprising people in the UK black community came to lay their individual and united creativity to the bewilderment of the guests in attendance.
Budding and experienced actors, actresses, producers, executive producers, musicians, photographers, journalists, bloggers, entrepreneurs and sponsors were all with one vision and mission to propagating the art of digital media.
The various recipients of the awards were very glad and promised to step up to the digital age, withstanding all industry measures and financial challenges. Jamal Edwards of SBTV, who scooped two gongs said; “this is just the beginning of many things in the making”.
Asked as to what is the way forward for the up and coming digital media talents emerging from the black community in the UK, Mr Charles Thompson (MBE) the founder of the Screen Nation Awards said; “first believe and second everything else is possible”.
Shanice of Starlight Movie Academy said; “the only way we could go far is to unite and pour all our creative thinking into one pot”. Sharing the limelight and glitterati were Caroline Chikezie (actress), Gberky (Fashion designer) Clarke Pentoa (Journalist) and Ronke Adeyemi (Blogger).
Miss Lala of lalareport, James Sherwood (TV presenter Vox Africa) and Tre Danso (eLook Photography) were also in the mingle of all things digital.
