Scrap Ministry of Power – Economist

Economist Dr Emmanuel Kumah has called for the immediate relapse of the Ministry of Power into the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

“For a country that is literally on its knees, how can you have two ministries dealing with energy?” Dr Kumah wondered.

He made this submission at a forum organized by Ishmael Yamson & Associates in Accra.

The forum was on the topic: “The Audacity to Transform the Economy of Ghana.”

Dr Kumah insisted that the country’s resources are being overspent and it is time Ghana lived within its means by merging some ministries.

“We are just too much overblown,” he observed. “We could shrink and live within our means.”

The Ministry of Power was set up by President John Dramani Mahama with an utmost mandate to end the power crisis in the country.

Dr Kwabena Donkor, a Member of Parliament for Pru East Constituency, became the first sector minister.
