Scots oil worker killed in Ghana

A SCOTS oil worker – pipe fitter – has died in Ghana, according to the oil firm Global Resources.

“The cause of death has not yet been established and was not work-related,” said a company spokeswoman. She added that a post-mortem examination would be taking place soon.

The body will be repatriated as soon as possible, and two senior members of the company’s management team have been sent to Ghana to offer support.

The man was working on an oil installation in the country before his death.

His next of kin have been informed.

“Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with our employee’s family and friends at this time,” the spokeswoman said.
