Communications Minister, Edward Omane Boamah has challenged pressure group – Occupy Ghana – to widen the scope of coverage in their planned suit against the Auditor General over the implementation of his annual reports.
The group has threatened to sue the Attorney General if he does not recover, in 30 days, all stolen and embezzled monies documented in his various reports over the last eleven years.
A member of the group, Ace Ankomah, has said the letters to convey the notice have been served on the Auditor General Richard Quartey, the Flagstaff House and Attorney-General Marietta Brew Oppong-Appiah.
“Every year the Auditor General issues the report, there is trouble, monies are being spent…the people have stolen the money, the ghosts have stolen the money, the Auditor General has seen them, what does he do?” he queried.
But speaking on Asempa FM, Friday, Omane Boamah wondered why the scope of the intended suit does not cover the initial stages of the Kufuor administration.
According to him, the period left uncovered by the planned suit leaves room for unhealthy speculation about the real motives of the suit.
