Scientists confident about winning battle against malaria

‘ Kumasi, Oct 28, GNA – Scientists and health professionals, who gathered in Kumasi for a seminar on the malaria disease had expressed optimism about winning the battle against the disease.

This is being fueled by the positive results from trials of the first ever malaria vaccine – showing protection against both clinical and severe malaria in children.

Ghana was selected alongside Kenya, Burkina Faso, Gabon and Mozambique for the trial of the “RTS,S”, developed by GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals (GSK Biologicals), one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies and being funded by the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation.
