School to generate funds through agriculture

Asuom, (E/R), June 17, GNA- Asuom Senior High School (SHS), in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region, is undertaking agriculture activities to generate more funds. It has planned to develop a 40-acre oil palm plantation and 24 acres of land had already been put under cultivation since May last year. Mr P. T. Amponsah, headmaster, who disclosed these at the 40th anniversary celebration of the school, said the school had 140 acres of land that could be used for agriculture activities. He said live stock like sheep and cattle were being reared by the school adding that plans were far advanced to add poultry to the project. Mr Amponsah said 32 maxi bags of maize were harvested from the school farm last year. He said the school became the best agriculture SHS in the region three years ago and last year it also won the best agriculture SHS in the district.
