School offered scholarships and bursaries to 18 pupils

Abuakwa (Ash), April 28, GNA- The Tweneboa Kodua International School at Abuakwa near Kumasi has offered scholarships and bursaries to 18 pupils based on merit in their academic performance and discipline. In addition, three children of each of the teaching staff have also been awarded bursaries as part of incentives to motivate the teachers to improve upon their performance.

Mr Djan Bannor, proprietor of the school, who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday, said the school presented 363 candidates for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and expects 100 per cent pass results.

He said the school’s existing classroom and other infrastructure were being improved and expanded to create an atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.

Mr Bannor said the school’s management would contribute meaningfully towards the improvement and provision of social amenities at Abuakwa and the school’s catchment areas to improve the living standard of the residents.

The proprietor commended the teaching and administration staff for promoting and sustaining excellent academic and moral discipline in the school, which enabled two of the pupils to get the 2000 and 2003 President awards.

Mr Daniel Dzameshie, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman, said the school insists on high academic and moral discipline and that parents should supervise and monitor the studies and movements of their children at home.
