School gets computer centre

Sunyani (B/A) July 22, GNA – A 90 million cedis computer centre and ultra-modern toilet constructed by Glad Tidings Assemblies of God Church and Good Foundation School was commissioned in Sunyani on Thursday.

The centre is to enhance the study of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the school.

Commissioning the projects, Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister stressed the need to promote computer literacy in basic schools to help the children to develop their potentials.

He noted that high illiteracy rate is a threat to development and urged parents to educate their children to become useful citizens. Mr. Awuah commended private and mission schools in the country for their contributions to national development.

Mr. David Damoah, Headmaster, explained that the school, established in 1989 has 500 students and the strict adherence of discipline had resulted in a high academic performance. He said the school would be upgraded to secondary and technical Status. The headmaster thanked the staff, Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the school and all stakeholders who had contributed to the growth of the mission school. July 22 05
