School feeding programme takes off at Agona Duakwa

Agona Duakw (C/R) June 29, GNA- The school-feeding programme for the Agona District of the Central Region took off at Agona Duakwa Methodist Primary School on Wednesday where a total of 270 children were treated to a warm lunch.

Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment, who launched the programme and partook in the lunch of Omotuo and Palm nut soup with some beans praised the programme and urged all stakeholders to ensure its success. He expressed optimism at the fact that the daily lunch would attract more pupils to the school as well as meet the Government’s desire of ensuring that all children of school going age were in school. Mr Boateng said the feeding programme was also meant to curb malnutrition among school children as well as ensure that each child of school-going age enjoyed at least a warm meal a day.

The programme launch was witnessed by a cross-section of the community members including parents, teachers, the District Chief Executive, Assembly Members and Officials of the District Assembly.
