School Feeding Programme resumes today

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (SFP), which was temporarily suspended at the beginning of this academic year resumes today, Monday the 19th of September, 2011.

Officials however say schools affected by the re-targeting are excluded.

The re-targeting is intended to remove schools which were wrongly included in order to bring on board more deprived schools.

The suspension of the programme last week raised suspicions it is at the verge of collapse.

But the School Feeding Secretariat explained that the re-organization is needed to attract more donors.

National Co-ordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Seidu Adamu told Joy News heads of all affected schools have been adequately informed.

“We have done some sensitization all over the country about this re-targeting and where we want to go to. What we are saying is this: we do not want the feeding to stop.”

The School Feeding Secretariat has also directed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to review the contracts of existing caterers and engage more others.
