School calls for help to roof classrooms

Bonsaso-Esikuma (W/R), July 29, GNA – Children in class two, three and five at the Bonsaso Essikuma primary school have to abandon classes anytime it rains in the area because their classrooms have not been roofed.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the headmaster of the school, Mr. George Asiedu, said the furniture in the three classrooms was also being destroyed gradually because of exposure to the rains. He said he had written to the Wassa West District Director of Education about the situation but no action had been taken. Mr Asiedu added that because of the school feeding programme and the capitation grant the school’s population had increased from 195 to 286.

He said the nursery class had no furniture nor chalkboard and that the kids were bringing their own chairs from home and sending them back after school.

Mr Asiedu therefore appealed to the District Assembly to furnish the nursery class so that teaching and learning would go on smoothly.
