School Board of Governors honour Professor Kwesi Andam

Ekumfi Essarkyir (C/R), Jan. 16, GNA – The Board of Governors of the Ekumfi Ahmadiyya Secondary School has honoured Professor Kwesi Andam, a member of the board, on his elevation as Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

At a board meeting at the school, the members presented Professor Andam, who hails from the area, with a special stool and a citation in appreciation of his hard work and dedication.

The board expressed disapproval at the slow pace at which the contractor who was working on girls hostel was executing the project. They appealed to Ghana Education Service to either impress upon the contractor to expedite action on the project, being financed through the GETFUND or have the contract abrogated and re-awarded. Sheikh Ahmed Quainoo, Chairman of the Board announced that a five-year Development Plan had been launched for the school, which involved construction of 20 masters’ bungalows and a boys’ dormitory. He said five of the bungalows would be put up this year. The board expressed concern about activities of some citizens of Ekumfi traditional area who were undermining the staff of the school and cautioned them to give the headmaster and the staff peace to do their work.

The board advised those who had problems to see the school authorities for amicable solutions rather than relying on rumours to attack the integrity of the tutors.

Mr Adams Sagoe, a member donated a fridge whilst others contributed monies to procure chairs to furnish the staff common room in appreciation of the good work of the teachers.

Out of 40 candidates presented in the last Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations 24 qualified for entry into universities.
