Savelugu/Naton Assembly endorses Atori

Savelugu (N/R), Aug. 19, GNA – The Savelugu/Nanton District Assembly on Thursday, endorsed Mr Abubakari Atori, as the District Chief Executive for the area.

He polled 48 out of the 49 votes representing 98 per cent in the election conducted by the Electoral Commission.

Mr Atori thanked the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to promote the development of the district.

He said over the last four years the Assembly had made efforts to improve education but stated that, “some bad nuts in the teaching profession in the district have chosen to go to school as they like”.

“Their behaviour is thwarting the Assembly’s efforts and I would like to ask the District Director of Education to take appropriate measures to call the recalcitrant teachers to order,” he added. The DCE said the Assembly had invested more than 10 billion cedis to improve water and sanitation.

Alhaji Abu-Bakar Saddique Boniface, Northern Regional Minister, reminded the members that the District Assembly concept was non-partisan and urged them to cooperate with the DCE to enhance development.
