Save Scarps Souls plant bamboo trees along Mampong scarp

Kumasi, June 28, GNA- Save Scarps Souls, an environmental voluntary organisation based at Atimatim near Kumasi, has embarked on a project to plant bamboo trees along the Asante Mampong scarp to help prevent vehicles from falling into the valley in case of accident. So far the organisation has been able to plant about 300 metres stretch of the scarp with bamboo stumps.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the project in Kumasi, Mr Rockson Amoah, President of the organisation said the decision to embark on the project stemmed from a terrible accident he witnessed on the scarp in June last year. Mr Amoah said the organisation intended to replicate the project along other major roads, which had dangerous scarps and valleys. He appealed for public support to facilitate the execution of the project.
