Accra, Mar. 3, GNA – The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) said on Friday that a citywide cleanup exercise would be organised on Saturday, March 4, 2006 as part of efforts to rid the Accra Metropolis of filth. A statement signed by Mr Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson, Mayor of Accra, said the exercise would be held from 0500 hours to 1200 noon on Sub-Metro basis.
It said Landlords and Landladies were required to clean their immediate surroundings as well as drains near their properties and urged all residents to take part in the exercise by clearing choked drains and other ‘dark spots’ around where they lived.
It said the AMA would provide vehicles to convey refuse gathered, to refuse dump sites.
