Sanitation forum held at La Dadekotopon

The La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has held a sensitisation programme for residents on environmental cleanliness.

The forum was attended by business men, traders, transport operators and representatives of the traditional area.

Mrs Rita Odoley Sowah, Municipal Chief Executive of LaDMA, urged the participants to live environmentally-conscious lives to avoid a repetition of the cholera incident that plagued the municipality last year.

She appealed to landlords to build toilet facilities in their houses to help reduce the environmental concerns of the area.

Mrs Sowah said the Assembly has laws that would deal decisively with offenders who break sanitation laws.

Mr Felix Acquaye, Environmental Health Officer, said the Assembly is currently implementing the Municipal Environmental Sanitation Action Plan, which seeks to address challenges with the management of solid, liquid and industrial wastes.

He said there is the need for consistent education on environmental cleanliness and rigorous enforcement of sanitation laws.
