A Circuit Court in Kumasi, has imposed a fined of GH¢12,000.00 on Samuel Antwi, a sales personnel for stealing from his employers.

In default, Antwi, 37, will serve a 12 months prison term and afterwards repay the money to the company.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing an amount of GHc 25,608.00 from Unloon Ghana Limited, a herbal medicine distribution company at Manhyia, in Kumasi.

Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mrs. Afua Adu Amankwaah, that the complainant, Mr Andrew Opoku Agyapong, was the manager of the Manhyia branch of the company.

He said Antwi, who had been an employee of the company for only ten months, has been stealing from the company to pay debts he owed to some banks.

However, after realizing that what he had taken from the coffers of the company was so much, he reported himself to his manager.

The Manager upon receiving the information conducted an internal audit into the activities of Antwi to ascertain the actual amount stolen from the company.

Chief Inspector Akowuah said the audit revealed that, Antwi had stolen a total amount of GH¢25,608.00.

The manager then reported the case to the Manhyia Police and Antwi was arrested.

Antwi in his caution statement admitted to the offence.

He however, said he had only taken just about GH¢ 8,000.00 and that the remaining amount was with a customer who bought the drugs on credit basis.
