Salaga residents cry over bad roads

Some residents of Salaga in the East Gonja District capital of the Northern region have expressed worry over the nature of roads in the area.

They explained that Salaga is one of the oldest Districts in Ghana but has its entire road network especially the township roads in a bad state making the town unattractive to visitors bemoaning the failure by successive governments to improve the worsening situation.

Musah Abdulai an opinion leader described the bad nature of the roads as streams on dams especially during the raining season which makes movement difficult at night.

He said even though the township roads have been awarded to a contractor RAJAJ since 2007, they are yet to see the contractor relocate to site and have called on the Assembly to look for another contractor to execute the work.

”Recently, Engineers and planners company working on the main Salaga-Makango road filled some of the potholes but that has not changed the situation. As I speak, you can’t wear a nice dress when it rains because a car or motorbike will splash dirty water on you”

The residents are threatening to demonstrate if nothing is done about the situation month’s time.
