Sakumono suspected thieves busted

Three suspected thieves including a student, who are said to be terrorizing residents of Sakumono, near Tema and its environs, have been caged at the Sakumono police station.

Christian Aboagye, 30, driver; Samuel Larbi, 19, a student and Samuel Darko, a 20-year-old plumber, were apprehended for unlawfully being in possession of some electronic appliances.

Police retrieved from the suspects one Samsung flat screen television, two 46-inche Highsense television sets, a Dell and Toshiba laptops.

A DVD player, a home theatre set, two woofer machines, as well as Samsung and Blackberry mobile phones, were other items retrieved from the residence of Aboagye during police investigations.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Superintendent Alex Wowolo, Sakumono District Police Commander, mentioned that a night patrol team intercepted a Daewoo taxi with registration number 6362-14 at Community 16, Tema, being driven by Aboagye.

The suspects, he said, managed to swerve all police checkpoints in the area until they were accosted by the Sakumono night patrol team on their usual patrols at about 2:30 am on January 25, 2015. According to him, the suspects had refused to mention where they had stolen the items from. The police officer therefore appealed to residents of the area whose properties had gone missing, to report to his outfit.

Superintendent Wowolo disclosed that the criminals operate in the Tema Metropolis.

He advised residents to take their personnel security seriously to prevent such miscreants from robbing them of their properties.

“Residents need to make their personnel security system more difficult for the criminals to break in. The police again realized that most victims don’t know the police emergency numbers – 1885, 0302773906 – with which they can inform the police about any suspicious moves so that we can come to their aid,” the police boss stated.
